When I first met Natalie and Raj and we were discussing their wedding date, I remember them casually joking about the possibility of a hurricane. These are the kinds of jokes that -while I laugh with the bride and groom- send me into a tiny, hidden panic at the very idea. Of course, you always plan for the worst and hope for the best… Hope for the bluest of skies, the tinniest of breezes and the exact perfect temperatures for guests to enjoy watching a ceremony on the beach. This was exactly the kind of day September 28, 2013 turned out to be…. and I am inclined to think it wasn’t just luck. They deserved it. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Natalie and Raj exchanged vows on the beaches of Ocean Isle, North Carolina.
The day was perfect for all involved because they stayed at the most gorgeous beach house around and we were all able to mingle the entire day. Natalie had seen my blog post about Plum Pretty Sugar robes and wore one for the pre-ceremony events. Seriously the most gorgeous coloring for her eyes! And -of course- I was thrilled when I realized the entire beach house was decorated in their wedding colors… (The things photographers get excited about) But the best part of the pre-wedding events was watching the relationships between the friends.
The ceremony was absolutely gorgeous…. I love intimate gatherings for weddings. There is something about the exchange of personal vows that gets me every time. It’s always a challenge for me NOT to cry and photograph at the same time.
This was definitely one of those receptions where you want to stay to the very end of the night because there was so much dancing and celebration going on… I was afraid I’d miss something good!
Congratulations, Natalie & Raj!!
